Development of an array-waveguide grating astronomical spectrograph

Abstract

Photonic devices offer many potential benefits for astronomy. Here we describe the results from a laboratory characterisation and designs for an on-telescope technology demonstrator using arrayed-waveguide grating devices for multiplexed astronomical spectroscopy.
