Design and Fabrication for Diffractive Optics in Multi Force Optical Tweezers

Abstract

Optical tweezers is a common technique for research in biological and physical sciences by using the radiation pressure. In this work, a laser, with a wavelength of λ = 532nm, maximum power 25mW, was used as the light source and a diffractive optical element was fabricated for trapping and imaging. The laser beam passes through a diffractive device to form a four (or more) Gaussian laser spots with 100µm of separation. To simplify the experiment, 3µn plastic bits were used to simulate array-type cells. Demonstration on the cell trap and optical element design are included in this work.
