Detuning Dependence of Losses in Bragg Gratings

Abstract

Optical losses vary with detuning from Bragg resonance due to variation of stored optical power inside the grating. Additional modulation of the absorption coefficient will cause asymmetry in detuning dependence of losses. Experiments confirm analytic theory.
