Abstract

Phase-matching conditions for second-harmonic generation in a non-linear crystal exhibit a strong dependence on the incidence direction and on the wavelength. We demonstrate that such angular and spectral dependences can be used to retrieve the wave-front of an intense femtosecond beam. Accurate measurements for a wide variety of spatial phases support the robustness of the method that can be also applied to sharpen (bad quality) intensity profiles.
