Mie Scattering due to Vacuoles in Intraocular Lenses

Abstract

Localized concentrations of water in intraocular lenses can accumulate over time. Since the index of refraction of water is lower than that of the polymer, the optical effects of these ‘vacuoles’ can become visually significant.
