Observation of parity-time symmetry in an optical system formed by moving atoms

Abstract

We report the first experimental implementation of parity-time symmetry in an optical system using atoms. Coupling of two optical modes is realized by coherent diffusion of atomic coherence. Theoretical model and experiment results are presented.
