Abstract

The anomalous commutation relation [Ueda, M. and Imoto, N., "Anomalous commutation relation and modified spontaneous emission inside a microcavity," Phys. Rev. A, 50(1), 89-92 (1994)] is used to demonstrate the existence of a threshold for second harmonic generation when it occurs from inside microcavities. This is an unexpected result.
