On-chip low spatially coherent laser with directional emission

Abstract

We design and fabricate an electrically pumped semiconductor laser producing a directional beam with low spatial coherence. The device features decoherence time of a few nanoseconds, which will enable ultrafast speckle-free imaging and sensing.
