Abstract
Freeform optical shapes or optical surfaces that are designed with non-symmetric features are gaining popularity with lens designers and optical system integrators. The freeform optical fabrication process includes optical fabrication processes such as generation, high speed VIBE polishing, sub-aperture figure correction, surface smoothing and testing. This paper will give recommendations regarding optical tolerances for freeform optics to make them easier to fabricate and test.
