Abstract

We present an autoregressive (AR) method for the generation and time evolution of atmospheric phase screens that is computationally efficient and uses a single parameter per Fourier mode to vary the power contained in the frozen flow and stochastic components. Phase cubes are tailored to match open-loop telemetry gathered by the wavefront sensors in the Adaptive Optics (AO) systems of instruments such as the Gemini Planet Imager (GPI) by extracting wind layers, velocities and directions in the Fourier domain. Fidelity to real-world conditions are verified through spatial and temporal PSDs and the comparison of extracted parameters such as structure functions and coherence length (r0).
