Unique Word Based Phase Noise Suppression for Nyquist SCFDE Systems

Abstract

Coherent optical nyquist SCFDE systems are discussed with emphasis of laser phase noise degradation and mitigation. A unique word method is proposed to suppress the phase noise, validated through numerical simulations in a 40Gb/s PDM 16-QAM system.
