A Wide-Angle and Polarization-Insensitive Perfect Terahertz Wave Absorber

Abstract

A wide angle and polarization-insensitive metamaterial perfect absorber(MPAs) is proposed at terahertz regime. In this paper, polarization insensitivity is realized owing to the absolutely symmetric geometry design. The absorptivity keeps the same value as 99.9% at 0.946 THz for all polarization angles from 0 to 80 degree. For oblique incidence, the designed absorber’s absorptivity is higher than 90% for incident angles up to 60 degree for TE mode, while remains no less than 91% when incident angles up to 80 degree for TM mode.
