Abstract
Silica nanoparticles are conveniently synthesized in gas phase H2/O2 premixed flames and a silicon-carrying precursor (e.g., hexamethyldisiloxane, HMDSO). For flame kinetics mechanism validation including particle growth a technique for absolute concentration measurements of the intermediate SiO based on laser-induced fluorescence and Rayleigh scattering is demonstrated.
