Kerr Effect in Long Period Gratings with a Pump and Probe Technique

Abstract

Kerr effect in long period gratings is investigated with a pump and probe technique. UV-written and acoustic in-fiber gratings are studied. The nonlinear refractive index coefficient can be measured using short lengths of optical fiber.
