Abstract

We propose a resolution enhancement method for AR/VR displays based on sub-pixel frame shift. The resolution of the native display engine is doubled by synchronizing the display engine and a LC deflector. Experimental results using commercial electronic devices, Samsung Gear VR and Galaxy S8, show that the resolution is doubled and the screen door effect is reduced.
