Sub-mW optical parametric oscillation across visible and telecommunications bands using silicon nanophotonics

Abstract

We demonstrate the first optical parametric oscillator (OPO) across visible and telecommunications bands using silicon nanophotonics. Its sub-mW threshold power is ≈ 50 to 400 times smaller than widely-separated OPOs demonstrated in other platforms.
