Optical two-way time synchronization at the femtosecond level over a 4-km free space link

Abstract

We demonstrate synchronization of two optical clocks across a 4-km free-space link. The two clocks composed of self-referenced frequency combs are unambiguously synchronized at the 1 fs level in 100 ms.
