Abstract

The effective maximum input power set by fiber nonlinearities in non-repeatered single-channel 120Gbps DP-16QAM fiber transmission systems has been shown to increase by values of as large as approx. 3.0 dB, 7.8 dB and 9.0 dB, compared with that of without amplification, by applying 1st-order, 2nd-order and 3rd-order Raman amplification, respectively at transmitter end.
