Abstract

Wideband injection laser is of great interest for future fiber-optic transmission systems. Recently 8-Gbit/sec pulse code PCM direct modulation of a TJS laser has been reported by Tell and Eng.1 The high-frequency modulation capability of the TJS laser is due to the stable single-mode oscillation and the short spontaneous lifetime by a heavy doping in the active region.2
