Abstract

In the fabrication of submarine cable, the most difficult problem is to increase the cable fiber piece length, because the fiber length is often limited by testing and the preform size. Hence a new high strength fiber-splicing technique and a reinforcement method capable of cabling are required. This paper describes the newly developed reinforcement method which satisfies the above requirements.
