Abstract

Small dimension fiber ribbon is attractive in fields where high density wiring is required, such as subscriber and computer networks. Extrusion of nylon onto arrayed fibers has been investigated with promising results. In a new technique. 5 fibers arrayed with 0.3-mm pitch can be jacketed by nylon with no excess loss and give stable performance in various circumferential conditions. An injection- molded plastic connector developed for this ribbon makes for an easier connection.
