Irradiation and photobleaching of optical fibers at low temperatures

Abstract

A practical method of minimizing attenuation in irradiated fibers is to employ the fiber-optic link light source to induce photobleaching. This technique is especially advantageous at low temperatures because thermal recovery is prohibitively slow.
