Bidirectional four-channel coherent transmission

Abstract

Optical frequency multiplex systems with a very high number of broadband channels can be established, if coherent fiber-optic transmission techniques are used1 and the channels are demultiplexed by heterodyne receivers. We report a four-channel transmission experiment in the 820nm wavelength region.
