Spectral stability analyses of weakly coupled external-cavity semiconductor lasers

Abstract

The coherent optical communication system requires a linewidth of semiconductor lasers narrower than several megahertz. Weakly coupled external-cavity semiconductor lasers can provide such a narrow linewidth by optimal adjustment of the phase of the returning light.1–3
