Abstract
The 565-Mb/s fiber optical system is widely used in the majority of U.S. long-haul networks to provide high-bit-rate services to customers (Fig. 1). Improved reliability and maintenance aspects also justify the use of the 565-Mb/s system. The system has also emerged as a suitable building block for future upgrading plans.
