Low-dispersion graded-index optical fibers for picosecond pulse transmission at 0.35 μm

Abstract

Measurement of the time dependence of the Nova laser output in the ultraviolet (third harmonic at 0.351 μm) requires the use of optical fibers which faithfully transmit 100-ps FWHM pulses over several tens of meters to optical streak cameras. Multimode optical fibers capable of being used in such short- pulse analog transmission applications are not readily available.
