A 1.6-Gb/s optical MSK heterodyne detection experiment and evaluation of waveform distortion

Abstract

Optical heterodyne transmission detection is attractive for its high sensitivity.1 Moreover, it is suitable for high-speed transmission systems because It can compensate for the waveform distortion caused by the fiber chromatic dispersion using electrical circuits. PM-AM conversion phenomena due to fiber chromatic dispersion have been investigated theoretically and experimentally.5 This paper evaluates the waveform distortion of frequency shift zero dispersion at 1.3 µm.
