Abstract

In a polarimetric fiber sensor, the birefringent fiber in the sensor coil Is spliced to a compensating length of fiber whose principal axes have been rotated 90° with respect to those of the sensor fiber to minimize noise.1 This paper presents a method for the in-line transfer of power from one principal axis to the other in a short segment of birefringent fiber.
