Abstract

Optoelectronic integration is important, especially in computer communication applications, to improve packaging density and increase data rates. We report on the first fully integrated clock recovery circuit operating above 1 Gbit/s, which is compatible with the requirements of optoelectronic integration. The circuit is implemented in a 1-μm refractory gate GaAs MESFET technology,1 and the process is compatible with interdigitated metal-semiconductor-metal (IMSM) photodetectors.2 An optical receiver has been fabricated on the same chip and operated in conjunction with this clock. We present here the performance of the clock circuit.
