Abstract

Wavelength multiplexers and demultiplexers for single-mode systems have been studied extensively.1 Among them, grating multiplexers and demultiplexers are expected to play an important role in multichannel one-way transmission systems. To use them in a single-fiber two-way transmission system, the crosstalk level should be lowered to meet the system requirement.2 The double-path monochromator configuration, employed in the broad passband grating multi-demultiplexer for multimode fiber, can achieve lower crosstalk levels.3 Here we report the fabrication and characteristics of a two-channel (1200/1300-nm) grating multi/demultiplexer based on these configurations grating for single-mode fiber two-way transmission systems.
