Abstract

Analog subcarrier optical transmission systems are attractive for future video networks because of their straightforward technology. Previously reported experiments have featured electrically broadband laser transmitters and PIN photodiodes matched to commercially available satellite TVRO receivers1–3 where the downconversion process is carried out by electronic mixing. These receivers require a significant number of microwave components.
