Abstract

We present a convenient single-laser technique for measuring laser diode (LD) linewidths which utilizes a passive all-fiber interferometer and suggests a way to measure simultaneously the linewidth enhancement factor α. Unlike delayed self-heterodyning1 (DSHT), the present technique does not require the use of an acoustooptic frequency shifter.
