Abstract
As in 1987, OFC '89 features an Evening Forum dealing with Fiber-to-the-Home. The speakers of the Plenary Session, together with other experts and opinion leaders, lead a discussion on some of the more critical issues involved in bringing fiber to the end-user directly. Emphasis is on experience gained in recent subscriber loop trials, on standards and regulatory issues, on the wide range of narrowband and broadband services possible in future networks with end-to-end fiber connectivity, and on providing the technology and services at lowest possible costs.
