Multimode EDFA Designs with Reduced MDG by Considering Spatially Dependent Saturation Effects

Abstract

We propose a spatial gain equalization strategy for multimode EDFAs which considers transversally non-uniform saturation. Characteristic minima of the MDG are observed along the fiber. The fiber length is adjusted to achieve low MDG.
