Coherent versus Kramers-Kronig Transceivers in Metro Applications: A Power Consumption Perspective

Abstract

We estimate power consumption of coherent and Kramers-Kronig (KK) transceivers with various configurations. We show that KK transceivers consume comparable power with coherent transceiver, but the upsampling-free KK transceiver consumes 33% less power than coherent one.
