Design, fabrication and experimental demonstration of subwavelength grating slot microring resonator for sensing applications

Abstract

Racetrack micro-ring resonator (MRR) based on subwavelength grating slot (SWGS) waveguide is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. A very high sensing sensitivity of 132 nm/RIU is achieved, which is, respectively improved by 65% compared to the standard strip waveguide-based devices.
