Colorless Coherent Passive Optical Network Using a Frequency Comb Local Oscillator

Abstract

We propose a colorless coherent PON architecture alleviating the need for wavelength locking of the ONU lasers. Using two different types of comb sources, we demonstrate error-free reception at -25 dBm received power over bandwidths of 600 GHz and 1 THz, respectively.
