Discriminative Determination Based on Long-Period Gratings Inscribed in Few-Mode Fibers

Abstract

We achieved the fabrication of long period gratings in few-mode fibers with micro-tapered method. By establishing coupling among spatial modes, discriminative sensing of temperature and strain was realized with the relative error under 3%.
