Silicon Photonics to Add 5G RoF Services to PONs Employing Carrier Reuse

Abstract

We experimentally validate silicon photonics for passive optical networks enabling radio over fiber on wavelength slots. We detect an 8 GHz OFDM signal and five 125 MHz RF signals, and remodulate RoF onto a clean carrier.
