Joint Linear and Nonlinear Noise Estimation of Optical Links by Exploiting Carrier Phase Recovery

Abstract

We demonstrate joint linear and nonlinear noise estimation by extracting the optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) and launch power directly from phase noise metrics readily available within existing digital signal processing algorithms.
