Abstract

First demonstration of dynamically biased 25Gbps avalanche photodiode-based receiver operating at 1.55 μm is reported. A 5.2dB improvement in receiver sensitivity and 10,000-fold reduction in bit-error-rate 25-Gbps are experimentally demonstrated using a commercially available InGaAs-InP APD.
