Vertically-Curved Si Surface Optical Coupler for Coupling with Standard Single-Mode Optical Fibers

Abstract

A vertically-curved-waveguide surface optical coupler for coupling with a 10-µm-MFD standard single-mode optical fiber was developed. The fabricated coupler showed 1-dB bandwidths of >160 nm and >120 nm and coupling losses of 3.9 dB and 4.0 dB for TE and TM polarization.
