Abstract

A myriad of papers have been written concerning the use of optical fibers as the sensing agent in sensors. Another large number have been given about the fabrication of fiber couplers which are insensitive to deleterious environmental effects. In this paper, a method is demonstrated in which single mode couplers are utilized to form sensors by tailoring their properties to enhance the desired effect.
