Abstract

Much of the success of optical fiber interferometric sensors stems from the ease with which very long path length devices can be fabricated. High measurand sensitivities are acheived through the length dependence of the propagation phase shifts U=2πne(L/λo), where ne is the mode effective index and λo, the vacuum wavelength.
