Elimination of polarization induced signal fading in interferometric fiber sensors using input polarization control

Abstract

We present an analysis of polarization-induced fading in interferometric fiber sensors which predicts that the effect can always be overcome through control of the state of polarization of the light input to the interferometer. Experimental results verifing this theory are reported.
