Abstract
Dramatic progress in uncooled microbolometer technology has occurred over the last few years enabling the use of uncooled thermal imagers for both new applications and applications formerly served by more expensive cooled imagers. This paper outlines some of the recent advancements and applications of advanced uncooled imagers. The topics covered include the sensitivity and performance of uncooled imagers, improvements in spectral performance, commercial and military applications, and recent video imagery.
