Rare event simulation of the performance of an actively mode-locked fiber laser model

Abstract

We demonstrate the application of importance sampling to Monte Carlo simulations of an actively mode-locked laser model. The method computes the probability of errors due to both amplitude drop-outs and pulse position shifts.
