Control of photon tunneling decay in engineered optical waveguide arrays

Abstract

Acceleration and deceleration of photon tunneling decay is theoretically demonstrated in an engineered waveguide-array structure, which provides an optical realization of quantum mechanical decay control proposed for macroscopic quantum tunneling.
