Towards High Coupling Efficiency Integrated 2D Meta-surface Waveguide Coupler for Mid-IR Wavelengths

Abstract

Integrated 2D meta-surface waveguide coupler for 3.8 μm has been designed. The optimization in period and radius has been achieved using FDTD. The calculated coupling efficiency in the in-plane waveguide for the out-of-plane illumination is ~98%.
