DSP-based Symbol-wise SOP Scrambling for Polarization-Multiplexed QAM Signals

Abstract

We propose a novel DSP-based symbol-wise 3-state cyclic SOP scrambling technique for polarization-multiplexed QAM signals. Simulation shows more than 0.4 dB improvement in the presence of 5 dB of PDL, reducing the SOP-dependent penalty.
